The unemployment rate and the job-openings-to-applicants ratio stayed mostly flat, and the numbers of people in work and of employees reached record highs. Total cash earnings rose for the fifth year in a row, but real wages fell for the fourth year in a row.

    Show answer

It points out that Japan's growth may have been held back by its slow investment in IT, and argues that active investment in AI is important. From 1995 to 2004 Japan's real GDP growth was only 1.0%, against 3.4% in the United States.

    Show answer

In manufacturing, 33.3% of AI users in Japan said their company provides training, far below the 62.7% in the United States.

    Show answer

Office workers are expected to be in surplus by about 4.4 million, while there will be a shortage of about 3.4 million people who can make full use of AI and robots and about 540,000 people working on site.

    Show answer

Because people with high meta-skills tend to earn higher wages than people with low ones. But the paper cautions that this does not pin down cause and effect.

    Example answer

(Example) I think AI will take over part of my office work. So I want to raise meta-skills such as logical thinking and keep relearning. But since my job is very busy, I feel I need an environment where I can keep learning.
