    Show answer

Using registration data received from the Ministry of Justice combined with private price data, it analyzed about 570,000 new condos registered from January 2018 to December 2025 in the three big metropolitan areas and the four regional cities, plus about 1.5 million transfer registrations.

    Show answer

Homes sold within one year of purchase were counted as short-term trades, in other words resales.

    Show answer

It was 8.8% in Tokyo Metropolis and 9.7% in the 23 wards, and reached 12.1% in the six central wards.

    Show answer

In large condominium buildings the short-term trading ratio was 9.0%, far above the 2.9% for other buildings.

    Show answer

Among people who bought new condos in Tokyo's 23 wards in 2025, those with an address abroad made up only 2.8%, and even in the six central wards only 5.9%.

    Show answer

There was no sign that buyers from abroad were buying only expensive properties. Their share was 4.0% for homes under 200 million yen and 6.4% for those at 200 million yen or more, not a big difference.

    Show answer

Because the current system has no way to know an owner's nationality; the figure is only inferred from names.

    Example answer

(Example) I think housing is basically for living in. Buying in the hope that prices will rise is a free choice, but it is a problem if it pushes prices up out of reach of households who need a home. I think we should discuss it calmly, based on data.
