〜時〜分 ・ 月/日 ・ 毎〜/来〜/先〜 ・ いつ ・ ごろ/ぐらい ・ 〜に 〜回

In this lesson, you will learn to tell the time, say dates, talk about this week, next month and last year, ask 'when?', and say how often you do something. You will also meet Tanaka's roommate, Ryo.

By the end you will be able to say

What time is it now?
The summer festival is on July 25th.
The test is next month.
It starts around six.
I study once a week.

The grammar in this lesson

  1. What time is it? 〜時〜分 — Hours with 時, minutes with 分, half past with 半, and the irregular readings.
  2. Months and dates: 〜月〜日 — Months are number + 月; the first ten days have their own names.
  3. This week, next month, last year — 毎 (every), 今 (this), 来 (next), 先 (last) with 週, 月 and 年.
  4. When, around, about, how often — いつ, 〜ごろ (around a time), 〜ぐらい (about an amount), 〜に〜回.
